It delivers on every level for a Xmas song and it’s produced beautifully and big.” Johnny Logan has recorded his new Christmas song “The Sunny Side Of Christmas” for the animated film MISSION SANTA.

His second collaboration with international composer and music producer Harold Faltermeyer after the song White Magic (1994) for the Willy Bogner film of the same name: “Johnny Logan is the singer who came to mind when I first sang this song, which I always do myself. And it’s a very good sign when you immediately feel a connection to an artist you’d like to work with. It’s always a pleasure to work with this superstar.“ Harold Faltermeyer published the theme song for MISSION SANTA, “The Sunny Side Of Christmas”, and recorded it with Irish superstar Johnny Logan.” I thought about whether I should write a song for MISSION SANTA myself, but in my publishing company  I had a song that had been written many years ago by a team of writers, Gernot Rothenbach and Eric Brodka. It occurred to me to give this song a new look, to reinterpret it. It’s important to bring in a new generation and not try to do everything yourself into old age. That’s why I brought some young talent on board, a very talented arranger and producer from Graz, Dominik Hemmer, who produced this song together with my son Florian Faltermeyer, and I, as the “old hand,” am the executive producer. I had the idea to arrange it this way and remove the kitsch from the original version, and the two young guys implemented it with their know-how about the new sounds that are currently en vogue. “

A song in a major key rather than a minor key, it will fit perfectly among the great classics of Christmas songs, from Bing Crosby to Chris Rea. What’s unusual and new about it is that “The Sunny Side Of Christmas” is a pop song with a very dominant rhythm, very danceable, very cheerful, very uplifting. The arrangement is designed to give the children a major role, because Christmas always belongs to the children above all else. A wonderful version, above all with the unique voice of Johnny Logan, which is the icing on the cake for this song.

“Working with Harold is a joy, his reputation is huge but his behaviour in the studio is very encouraging and giving . He’s a wonderful producer and a very gentle and warm man . I was honoured to be asked to sing the track and it’s been a great experience.” Johnny Logan has always remained true to his music and himself. Forty-five years after his first Grand Prix victory in The Hague, 37 years after his second, and 23 years after his third Grand Prix victory, this time as a composer, with platinum records and sold-out concert tours, he continues to thrill his audience. The extraordinary singer and composer has demonstrated his talent with numerous high-quality songs and albums and has had a lasting impact on the music industry. For this, he was awarded an honorary doctorate from the Faculty of Philosophy at the renowned Rushford Business School in Geneva in 2025.

What fascinates him about Christmas? “Christmas for me is about remembering my childhood , my family and friends , the people who I’ve lost and still have , my religious beliefs but most of all it’s about magic , that feeling that everything will be ok and the excitement I see in the children looking forward to Santa coming .”
